17. What can I do to be justified?

We can only be justified by grace, through faith. Not by sufficient knowledge of sin, not by keeping the law, not by doing good works and not by living a pious life. The only requirement for your salvation has been met by the Lord Jesus on the cross of Calvary. We cannot add anything to this in order to be justified. We can only be justified by believing that the Lord Jesus died on the cross for our sins. This seems simple, but at the same time it can be very difficult to only trust in the Lord Jesus and not add anything to this ourselves.

  • Galatians 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

  • Titus 3:5-7 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
